John found the Palace in Garmin so we packed the cameras and headed that way. One the way there we ran into a small problem with finding the parking area. Apparently they have re-done the streets in Caserta and Garmin didn't know that, so he was trying to get us to turn down streets that were one ways, not the direction we were needing. After about 3 loops and 15 minutes we finally found the parking area, parked and started to the Palace.
Once we got inside we decided to buy tickets for all three parts, the Apartments, Park and Garden. We headed into the Palace and were amazed at how big it actually was. The Palace is set up in the shape of a rectangle which measures out to be 270 yards by 201 yards. We started off by going up the Main staircase and into the apartments.
When we finished going through all the rooms you were allowed through we headed out to the Park. I was expecting like a nice grassy area with a few trees and stuff. Boy was I wrong on that one... The park was this long walkway that started off as a grassy area then there were ponds and fountains all the way along it. At the end you could see this white thing that sort of looked like some type of statue or something, but the closer we got we realized it was a waterfall. Anyways, I looked it up and found out that the park is around a 2 mile walk one way (from the Palace to the waterfall).
So needless to say by the time we finally made it to the end of the park we were both dead. The entrance to the English Garden is by the waterfall but by the time we got there we didn't have much time before they were going to close it so we decided we would go back another day and do the Garden.
On the way back we were kind of thankful we didn't do the Gardens because it started raining on us. We walked under the trees and didn't get as wet but at that point it felt kind of good and refreshing.
