Day 2 of Wine Weekend

Oct 1
Our second day in Umbria was just as good as the first. We got to spend the day in three different areas of Umbria and had a blast. For this post I will just use the pictures!!
This was part of the vineyard at the first winery that we went to. The first winery was Zazzera and it was a fairly small family run winery and vineyard.
The leaf is one of the most important parts of the grape vine. If you know what you are looking at the leaf will tell you what type of grape that is. All leafs are different for different types of grapes.
They also had a small olive grove on their land. The olives still had a little time before they were going to be ready.
Sangiovese Grapes
There were a few white grapes left, not sure what kind they were
More Sangiovese bunches, and they tasted really good
We could hear the guys that were harvesting the grapes so we were ducking under the vines to try and find them.
WE FOUND THEM!!!
Lots of grapes
After cutting them off the vine and putting them in the small buckets they then transfer them to the tractor. There were quite a few grapes in already in there and by the time we left the winery about an hour later it was completely full.
A picture with some of the harvesters
I asked if we could try and cut some of the grapes and they were happy to let us give it a try.

John's turn
I am pretty sure that if we had been in yuck clothes we could have stayed and helped them all day long

We left Zazzera and headed through the Umbrian Countryside, this was a view back at Todi

Headed back to Todi

We both had a GREAT time on this trip. It was so relaxing, which is something we never do on vacation, so that was nice!! I highly recommend Umbria to anyone!
