Starting off the Summer!!

Last night John and I signed up to go on a Wine Tasting Tour with the ITT here on base. That way everything was paid for up front and we didn't have to worry about finding the winery or the restaurant for dinner. We just showed up at the bus stop and they did all the work. We have actually done this wine tasting before (November 09) but didn't have anything going on and loved the food and wine last time so decided to do it again. The tour was a lot different this time, 1 because it is summer and the sun is out a lot longer so we were able to go into the vineyard. 2, the winery wasn't under as much remodeling, so we were able to do the wine tasting at the winery and not the restaurant.

Once the wine tasting part was done we loaded back up on the bus and headed over to the family owned restaurant. Once again the food was delicious. It was a 4 course meal and every course was different from the last time we went, so it was nice to have new food to taste. The drive to the restaurant was also a lot better than the last time. Again the sun was still out and we could see the beautiful view. The restaurant is close to the coast so the drive is along the coast line and it was sunset, it was amazing.

The grapes are tiny right now, just starting to grow
Steel Vats ~ this is where all the wine was sitting

These are their 4 different wines (2 bottles of each)
From left to right ~ Piedirosso (red), Aglianico (red), Falanghina (white), Coda di Volpe (white)
This is one of the walls where the wine tasting took place. This room was being renovated last time we were there.

Today John and I didn't have a whole lot planned so we headed up to the NEX for lunch and to walk around for a little bit. We happened to go back into the garden center and found a really cool porch swing. I have been telling him it would be nice to have one since the weather is getting nicer, and I would like to have a place to sit and relax outside. Well, we had just enough space on one of our balcony's for it to fit, so we brought it home and assembled it.

Proof that I DID help

But I enjoyed it a lot more!!!
