John ordered a Garmin GPS a while ago, but we had to wait for the Europe maps to get in, which we just got about a week or 2 ago. So we decided to try it out the other day on our way back from Carney Park. Carney Park is part of the military bases in Naples, they have all the outdoors adventure stuff there, swimming pool, hiking, tennis courts and soccer fields. We went up there to look at the store for some snow skiing equipment. We had a map with us that told up how to get to and from Carney Park from Support Site, but on the way home we decided to leave it up to Garmin.
It took us about 30 minutes or so to get to Carney Park but the trip home took a little longer than that. John has it set for the shortest distance instead of shortest time so we doubled our travel time on the way home. Garmin took us all the way through all the towns between the two places. Let me remind everyone that the streets through town are not that that wide at all, cars park on both sides of the road and traffic is two way. Also, John drives a Chevy Colorado, not that big of a pick-up in the States but in Italy it's a different story. We didn't have to fold the mirrors in but there were multiple occasions I thought we were going to hit another vehicle, parked or moving.
So after that little trip through the towns I think John needs to work with Garmin and set it for shortest time so maybe we can stay on main roads next time we really need it.
Gotta love Garmin!!! Glad you were finally able to put it to work! Hope your next trip goes a little better! lol
