John and I have been working on the apartment for the last week or so trying to get everything put up. Well it was mostly me wanting to hang things so that it actually looks like someone lives here now. So I have been putting him to work at nights when he gets home or on his days off, but we finally have most of what we have hung up.
Although hanging stuff on our walls was quite an adventure. It took us a few trips to the nex, Leroy Merlin, John asking people he works with how to hang things on these walls and spackling some major holes. So the walls out have about 1/2 inch of dry wall then they go straight to cement. The first time John tried to hammer a nail in the wall I think he took out a chunk of wall the size of a half dollar or a little bigger. We tried a few different things and finally found 2 different ways of hanging that worked best for us. The first is using sticky strips, we used these on some of our smaller picture frames and bigger things that didn't way too much. The 2nd option we found was using the cordless drill that my parents bought us, needless to say it has done a lot of work. First we mark where the whole needs to go then John drilled the hole, then he would put the spacer in, then he would have to put in the screw. Yes, it was quite a process but everything is hanging.
The decorative tea-pot set. It is above the window between the dinning table and the kitchen.
The other wall in the living room ~ our big engagement picture that was at our wedding and my bridal collage that was at our reception.
