Snowed In!

March 19
Friday morning we got to wake up to white everywhere and the snow still falling. Dad always watches the weather when we are getting ready for trips and while we are on the trip so he knew it was supposed to start snowing late Thursday night, and when we were leaving the mountain the night before we heard they were supposed to get about 12 – 15 inches of snow. Well they were right, when it was all said and done they ended up getting around 18 inches of snow.

We already had plans for that morning so we all got ready and met downstairs to head out. We were still waiting on a few people, can’t remember them all but I know Bri and Britt were a couple of them, so we were all just sitting around the lobby talking and messing around. Then the elevator door opened and everyone in our group got off and about that time the electricity went out. Luckily everyone was off the elevator but just barely, the door didn’t even have enough time to close.

Now that everyone was down we were able to load up and head out into the blizzard. Some of the guys were wanting to do the tour at the Coors Brewery, so mom called and set us up a tour so that is where we were headed. We finally made it there but it took us a little longer than it normally would have just because the roads were so bad. The Brewery was pretty cool all the guys liked it because they got three free beers at the end. I don’t know how much the little ones liked it but they didn’t complain they just ran around the whole time.

For lunch that day Don was really wanting some good Mexican food so we asked around at the Brewery where a good place was and a few different people told us to eat at La Coretta. Well we punched it into Garmin and headed to the restaurant, when we got there, there wasn’t even one car in the parking lot and it was just a little run down looking building. We were all a little concerned but decided to try it anyways. Once again we were all reminded not to judge a book by its cover, it was actually some really good Mexican food and we will probably try and eat it again next year.

As we were finishing up at lunch we were trying to come up with something to do the rest of the day, the older ones were wanting to go to the mall and some of the guys wanted to go to Bass Pro Shops but with the weather like it was we decided we needed to stick together and the little ones did not want to go to the mall. Casey told us that he had saw something about an aquarium that looked pretty cool and wasn’t supposed to be too far from where we were. So once again we plugged it into Garmin and headed that direction.

No one complained about going to the aquarium and no one really knew what to expect, but when we drove up it was this huge building and the outside looked pretty cool so we were excited to get in and see what it had. They actually had a ton of different animals. They had everything from little fresh water fish, little salt water tanks, piranhas, otters, sharks, sea turtles, tigers, birds and many other things. Then at the end they had an open top tank that had sting rays in it that you could touch and feed. By the time we left I think everyone had at least touched them then a few people had fed them. They were one of the slimiest animals I think I have every touched in my life. Then I fed one and that was the weirdest feeling, as it slid up your arm so its mouth could get the fish out of your hand.

After that they had a little snack area with a few other little things. A bunch of us got some dippin dots as a snack and just sat around talking for a little while. Then one of the things set up was face painting and Jaide wanted to get her face painted. Well by the time we left Jaide, Bri, Lindsey, Megan and I all had our faces painted and Jett had one on his arm. So we got to spend the rest of the day with stuff on our faces.

By the time we left the aquarium we had spent 3 hours there, and everyone split up. The families with the little ones headed back to the hotel to let them swim and the rest of us headed to the mall for a little while(Jett went with us to the mall). We messed around there and Mom, Bri and I ended up getting us some new sunglasses, then we left and went to eat.

Brianna and Don were both really wanting Cheesecake Factory and they looked it up and it was not far at all from the mall so we decided to eat there for dinner. It was so good but most of us shared so that we wouldn’t get as full and could still order a cheesecake for dessert. Altogether we ended up ordering 6 cheesecakes and we all ordered something different. When they came out we just passed them around and all tried them all. I think we came to a final decision that the one dad ordered was the best, Dulce de Leche Caramel.

By the time we left everyone was stuffed and we headed back to the hotel and passed out to get some sleep for the next day.
