Day 6 - Naples

June 27
We decided to take Bri to downtown Naples so she could see what it was like around where we live. We actually live about 20 min by train away from downtown. So we woke up and caught the 9:00am bus to the train station. Once we got to the train station we missed the train by seconds, it was pulling off the platform as we were trying to buy tickets.

Since it was Sunday the trains were only running about half as much as normal days, so we were stuck at the train station for an hour and a half before the next train came that was going to Naples. Once we finally made it downtown it was already close to lunch time so we started walking towards a restaurant that John and I could remember seeing.

Along the way we got distracted by the street vendors and small little market that was set up. So we shopped around for a little bit then had to find an ATM so we could get some Euro out. We found a couple really cute things then continued to the restaurant.

After lunch we were right across the street from Castel Nuovo, so we walked on over there to show it to Brianna. I knew most things closed on Sundays in Italy but I thought in a tourist area in the middle of summer they might stay open...well I was wrong. The castle was closed so we took a few pictures and continued on.

The next thing on the agenda was the Hop On - Hop Off bus. The starting area for this tour is right next to the castle, so we paid and got on. We never got off, due to most everything being closed because of it being Sunday. So we rode all the way around and saw some good views of the Bay of Naples.

Once we got back to the beginning we headed out to the Galleria. John thought he knew where it was and after walking around for about 15 mins or so he DID get us there. Although it was all closed but it was fun to look around. The ceiling was crazy. One of the only stores that was open was a Gelato place so we ate some gelato then continued.

After the gelato we decided we would start walking back up to the train station and hit one more spot along the way. There is a church or "Duomo" along the way back so we stopped there to take a few pictures.

On the way back to the train station we walked by the alley and Bri stopped us for a quick picture
Once we got to the train station we got on a train that was headed back to Aversa pretty quick and headed over to a good restaurant for dinner. We call the restaurant Green Awning, but that is not the real name of the restaurant. It is some Italian name but Green Awning is what the people I know call it.
Dinner was so good and we were stuffed
